the hiring:
the wish upon a wedding ohio board selected me to be the planner of the first ohio wish after i helped them with the wuaw ohio cleveland meet and greet. i was honored and thrilled. i might have jumped up and down a little in my office.

the planning:
after i got my official wish upon a wedding paperwork, i scheduled a meeting with d and bill. we met for breakfast and talked all about their first wedding in 1970, their story, and things they’d like for their vow renewal ceremony. then i utilized the wuaw ohio wish granters list (vendors sign up here!) to find volunteer vendors for the event. i was overwhelmed by vendors wanting to help. it was outstanding.

the notables:
inspiration: dolores owned an antique store for several years that she and bill ran. we used that as our overlying theme for all of the decor: vintage, antique and Victorian.
unique detail: the fortieth anniversary gem is ruby, and d’s favorite color is red. it worked out perfectly that we planned a ruby red celebration.
biggest challenge: planning a wedding with all volunteers in two months is a challenge in of itself!
five generations: bill’s mother wasn’t at their original wedding, but at 92 years old, she was at the vow renewal, along with bill and d, their son joe, granddaughter samantha and great granddaughter starlynn!
sources: the antique guest “books” and keys were found at michael’s.
favorite planning moment: during the love story video taping and the wkyc interview taping, i could just feel the anticipation of the big day, and what a welcome distraction planning was to d’s doctor’s appointments. it was nice to help provide the great distraction!

the night before, all occasions limousine provide a limo ride from d and bill’s home to the marriott in cleveland where they spent the night for the night before and night of the wedding.

the gorgeous club at key center!

the ceremony all ready to go! red uplighting made the room glow ruby thanks to rock the house. the “altar” included two pillars with large vases filled with branches and flowers from roses for weddings.

bouquets and centerpieces were also by roses for weddings.

the vow renewal ceremony was performed by jay r of selective sound entertainment.

forty candles were lit in the windows for every year of marriage d and bill were celebrating!

after the ceremony, photographer andrew jordan got a group shot of all of d and bill’s guests.

the bride wore a silver gown thanks to galleria gowns. d and moh samantha’s jewelry was custom made by lili lutu bespoke jewelry. the groom wore a black tux with a black shirt and complementing silver vest thanks to the ashtabula location of american commodore tuxedo.

guest tables were based with ivory damask linens from event source. ruby red centerpieces by roses for weddings.

the place setting included damask napkins with red chargers all from event source. the lace was hand cut and tied for the guests by heidzillas.

the favors were small place card frames from favored occasions. they matched the decor to a tee.

guest “books” table. two photos taken during the planning were strung together by antique ivory string. on the string were several antique keys with words such as “dream” “love” “life” etc.

the gorgeous cake by sarah’s stylish sweets! the table was adorned with black lace, ruby jewels, a lace place mat, black plate and an antique silver cake knife.

the second “first” dance was to “i’m gonna love you a little bit longer” by dr. hook. perfect choice by the browns!

thanks to gary wenner of chagrin valley entertainment for his emcee and dj services for the ceremony and reception.

the wish upon a wedding gobo (thanks to rock the house!) lit up the ceiling as a reminder of the wonderful organization which made the day possible!

wondering why dolores and bill are such deserving recipients of the first ohio wish? watch their touching love story. my favorite part comes at 3:57. my wish is that all married couples still look at each other than way after 40 years of marriage.

it’s already been one year for lauren and mike! happy first you two! november 7 was one rowdy fun day. i don’t know if i’ve ever seen a bridal party – and parents – that fired up for announcements. i had the pleasure of doing some set up and day of coordination for lauren and mike’s reception. luckily i got a chance to video the announcement dance that surprised all of the guests! this crowd has quite the celebration for l&m’s wedding day… hoping you two are able to celebrate even half as well this year!

happy first anniversary to the gorgeous jessica and brandon. i wish you the best day but knowing the two of you, i’m sure you’ve found some loving awesome way to celebrate. i’ve never seen a couple with more charisma than these two… and it showed in every single photo they took on their wedding day. they had a gorgeous non-halloween themed wedding surrounded by some really stellar friends and family. i hope today is the same! have a great one you two!

well i know it’s been a wonderful first year of marriage for kim and ryan as they just recently welcomed their daughter, natalie, into the world. how gorgeous is she!?

a little darling to dress in pink… which reminds me of the beautiful classy pale pink accents with gold and crystals that kim and ryan had at their gorgeous ritz carlton ceremony one year ago. i loved coordinating for them and loved all the details that kim planned. you must click back to see!

my second of five weddings last october was one year ago today! happy first anniversary sarah and matt! hopefully it’s been a great year since your wedding reception that i had the pleasure of setting up for at st. clarence. sarah handled all of the little details including making her own centerpieces. i loved the venue and the thought out plans she had for it. be sure to see it on last year’s blog posts. here’s to you sarah and matt! i love that their first anniversary is 10-10-10!

happy first wedding anniversary jen and brian!!!! jen entrusted me with decor planning at their big day. their wedding was a favorite and i’m still so proud with how it came out. if you like vintage and travel, you would have loved their reception plans at 100th bomb group where we also gave a nod to jen and brian’s reporter backgrounds.
