cupcakes in lieu of a traditional wedding cake is a trend definitely on an upswing! it happened to be a big trend with our 2009 fall brides with 6 of our 15 fall brides serving cuppies cakes! and it’s no wonder… not only do they look darling, they are mighty tasty too! we saw a half of the brides and grooms cut an actual cupcake for the traditional cake cutting and feeding, while the other half chose to do more of a top tier-sized cake in addition to the cupcakes for the ceremonial cutting of the cake. i especially loved all of the unique ways to serve the cake – from wooden or china plates + champagne flutes hand made stands to square-tier cake shaped boxes!

man, i’m craving a cupcake now… i guess this will have to tide me over until i can go get one…
next year, i’m anticipating more cupcakes… and maybe a few more ice cream buffets. any other unique non-cake ideas?
