this is it! my last installment of the year so far — my favorites from the first half of my wedding season. this weekend starts (in full force might i add) the second half of my wedding season and new favorites to be had!
this one is a difficult choice because the venues i’ve worked this year all had some really great features. buuuut i have to go with the tudor house, where amy and jeremy’s wedding was in june, for my favorite venue so far.
the house has so many charming qualities…

…and the grounds behind the house are vast enough to set up a tent, crudite, a ceremony site, and more.

there’s a few larger nooks like this back patio overhang where guests can sit or food or a bar could even be set up:

and, there’s a view of the lake that’s particularly nice for photos later in the evening.

inside are lovely rooms inside for bridal parties to be in waiting if the ceremony is also there…

…as well as multiple spaces inside for decor, escort cards, gifts, etc.

while all of my favorite venues have some cons, the biggest one with the tudor house is that the party just can’t go on! because it’s owned by the state, receptions must be dry and must end at 10pm. but, if you start your wedding earlier in the day, there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy the space for several hours and when the breeze is coming through over the lake.
i hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my favorites from the first half of 2009. coming up next: vendor previews from this weekend’s weddings!
