my favorite vows this year come from another friend’s wedding. charisse, who i’ve known since kindergarten (!), was just remarried on july 25. she and her husband allen chose to write their own vows. i thought they were really special.

Charisse, since we met I feel that I have became a stronger person. I have found what true life long love feels like. When we are apart the days seem long and empty but when we are together the days are filled with smiles and love. So on this day, I commit to you to love, honor and to be faithful through the good times and bad times as we both grow old together.
charisse:
I always dreamed as a little girl that love would be like a fairytale. For prince charming to come to my rescue whenever I needed him. And for me to take care of, whether he wanted to admit that he needed it or not. Life had taught me that love wasn’t like that, so I stopped looking. But that’s when you came along and swept me off my feet. You rescued me from myself…and I think I did a little rescuing for you too. I have found my prince in you, so I pledge to you today, that I will always be there for you, I will always laugh at our moments of complete dorkiness, I will try to not always act like a princess and I will treasure every moment I have with you. And as we grow older, and live our lives, I will continue to love you for the man you are and I look forward to the people we will become together.
