Interesting thing about clients' do-not-play lists is the list become more expansive as time goes on. For example, Mambo number 5 joined the ranks recently, as it was only released ten years ago. Many times the "cheese" songs are the ones that are overplayed on the radio, popular for stint at events, then get grouped into the "make me sick" set. Wedding receptions are a unique private venue (as opposed to a public radio station constantly playing them) where these songs unfortunately get played. Sometimes it's the guests, but most times it's the DJs who perpetuate songs into becoming "cheese" classics. We track music requests for trends and last year only 40% of our clients requested anything like these. The rest were adamantly against them.

If you think you dislike some of these songs, your not even close. Imagine listening to some of these songs 2 to 3 times per weekend x 50 weekends per year x 17+ years = numb Its not that we want to hear them, its that the guests react to them!

Heidi did another great job and went out of her way again!

I have considered offering discounts for couples who have a do not play list that looks like the ones above. It makes the reception so much more enjoyable for all.

I have to tell you i agree with all those. If I should ever walk down the aisle, I'm putting it in my dj contract that if those songs are played, you will not get paid.
