the third diy project my bff codi and i finished up this weekend (after ceremony exit bells and hanging escort cards) was her photo table numbers. these numbers will go on photo clips, like this, that will be placed on top of their centerpiece cakes. so table number cake toppers if you will…
we had these two ideas, as seen on the knot and martha stewart weddings, in our heads for inspiration:

here’s the quick and easy step-by-step: start with 12″ x 12″ paper that will serve as your background. cut into 6″ x 6″ squares:

next choose the paper that will serve as your matte. in codi’s case, she found great polka dot paper at archivers. it had a white frame we had to trim off first:

then cut the matte paper into 5″ x 5″ squares. of course you’ll have a little bit extra left over if you started with 12″ x 12″ paper. next, simply glue the matte squares to the backing squares with rubber cement. (hint: i prefer rubber cement because it doesn’t wrinkle paper like white glue does and it’s a little more forgivable if you don’t place a corner properly the first time.)

after you have your base paper all ready, punch two holes, about one inch apart. we sort of double punched them to make enough room for the ribbon. the left end of the ribbon goes directly in the left hole, and the right into the right. they criss-cross in the back and the right (not tie) and then the right side of the ribbon comes back through the left hole and vice versa.

then you can add a third layer with numbers printed on, as so:

or in codi and joe’s case… add photos. if you recall back to november, i took photos of codi and joe for their super cute magnetstreet save the dates.

they decided on this same style of photos for their table numbers. except this time they got a pro photographer… :) see a sneak peek of the photos they have to consider for their table number photos. here’s a mock-up of the final product:

don’t forget to trim the ends of the ribbon to clean them up as they can start to fray when you push them through the hole punches. here are the table numbers all ready and waiting for their printed photos:

i think i like them much better than our inspiration, myself. martha?
