back in december i posted about my BFF codi‘s decor inspiration and her colors: green with black and white polka dots! it’s really starting to come together now. the more we work on, the more i’m in LOVE with the polka dots!!!
first of all, codi got hooked up with her cousin jessica’s wedding stationer, carrie weber, who designed these AWESOME invitations and postcard RSVPs:
then, we did the easiest project first – the ceremony exit bells, as described yesterday.

next up: diy project #2: escort cards
codi likes the kind of escort cards that are single cards displayed on a board, not the traditional tent folds that sit on tables. she bought a 23″ x 35″ cork board at target.

then we covered it with one yard of fabric from joann fabrics.

then with all the paper we got on sale back in january (hee hee hee), we cut 2.5″ x 3.5″ rectangles for the escort card backs.
real quick for math-impaired: 12″ x 12″ scrapbooking paper cut into four 3″ x 12″ strips, then segmented into four 3″ x 2.5″ rectangles. there will be 2″ left, unless you’d rather do 3″ x 3″ squares.

since codi’s rsvps are still out, we aren’t done with the actual name part of the escort cards, but it shouldn’t be too hard. she’ll be printing the guests’ names on white cardstock with her printer using a labels template in word to place the names in 2″ x 2″ squares.

once the names are glued on, a simple hole punch and some white ball straight pins will complete the look!
the 23″ x 35″ cork board holds 12 across and 6 down… or 72 if you’re counting. so for an average-sized wedding, two of these should suffice.

hint: place your own, your bridal party and anyone else who will be announced into your reception by your emcee’s escort card at their place. they’ll never get to the entrance area to pick them up AND it will save you cork board space (or table space if you’re doing more traditional escort cards.)
