hang it up!

so you just spent hundreds of dollars on a wedding dress. or The Dress as i like to call it. (sort of like your groom is The One!) then you spent a couple hundred more on alterations, fancy underoos, your shoes, jewelry, etc. it’s approaching your wedding day and you’ve been thinking about all the details you want your photographer to capture… and if you’ve hired a journalistic-style photographer, one shot that i’d have to guess you want to get is: The Dress hanging on a hanger… in the window, on an armoire, in the closet, etc. am i right? while you’re at it, you might want some photos of your bridesmaids’, mothers’ and flowergirls’ dresses hanging, too?

well, don’t forget pretty hangers!!! you’ve spent ALL that money on the beautiful attire, should it really be photographed hung on those crappy plastic hangers that david’s bridal gave you???

the good news is, they aren’t that expensive.

head to your local bed bath and beyond to get a set of 10 satin lingerie-style hangers (in ivory or neutrals multi-color pack) for $12.99. oh and don’t forget your 20% off one item coupon!

do you have a container store near you? they carry white or pastel damask satin hangers in packs of 4 for $9.99 (including the kind with the clips for the two piece dresses!)

AND you can even get custom hanger covers from online etsy stores like brambleberryrow  for around $15.

for more of a splurge, check these sassy, sexy hangers out from glamour hanger (starting around $28)

Corey - I also always try to pack one and bring it with but I’m also not a jerk who is going to dismantle your gown from what is often almost like a puzzle to get off, so sometimes I go with what is available. However I agree that the pretty hangers look better!

I want to suggest TJ Maxx and Marshall’s for places to get hangers. They have some great damask ones and other patterns as well for dirt cheap! Bed Bath & Beyond stopped doing the 20% off and now does $5 off :( March 31, 2009 – 8:35 pm

Heidi@TrulyEngaging - Great post, funny too! I am loving those custom hangers.April 1, 2009 – 8:19 am

AmyJean @RelentlessBride - The nicer hangers do make such a difference :) April 1, 2009 – 1:24 pm

Tara - I am totally going to get nice ones! Thank you for the idea! A 10-pack from BB&B would be perfect for me, Flower Girl, and 6 bridemaids… I’m sure we can find use for the other two. Maybe mothers of bride and groom??April 3, 2009 – 8:50 am
