heidzilla visits: springvale ballroom

saturday afternoon i met heidzillas bride-to-be jillian at her reception site, springvale ballroom.  it’s a part of the springvale golf course managed by the city of north olmsted. she selected this site in april ’07 and hadn’t been back to scope the place out for decorations and such. her florist, arne klein of blooms by plantscaping, came along so we could figure out where uplighting would go and what assortment of tall and short centerpieces would make sense.

this shot will look a lot nicer on june 6, 2009. a little snowy on saturday. the outside of springvale is sort of deceiving. it looks like smaller site from the parking lot. there’s newer white siding and it’s long and appears short and skinny. but once, you go around front, under the green awning, and enter the doors, you walk into a massive reception hall with wall-to-wall hard wood floors and vaulted ceilings.

the head table will be at the back just in front of the fire place and mantle. we’ll be taking down the provided mantle decoration and replacing them with lots of candles. there will be *pink* uplights on both sides of the mantle, and three on the walls on both sides.

to the left, the dj crew will have full reign of this two level stage area. it will be surrounded on both sides by tables seating 8.

to the right will be the bulk of the tables. we anticipate needing about 25 to 30 tables to accommodate jillian’s guest list. where ever you see the draping falling on the posts, there will be pink uplighting! uber-dramatic, i cannot WAIT to see this all tie in together with the lit centerpieces.

there will be a few high top tables near the bar area that is near the entrance. the paint is more of a tannish color, but my digital camera flash made this entire area look red…

jillian’s package includes chair covers and sashes, as well as the coordinating napkins. the linens will be white, so she selected the plain white chair covers. there will be a coordinating pale pink sash, so it doesn’t totally splash in your face (especially since all eyes will be on the up-lit *pink* centerpieces!!!)   the napkin fold is to be determined, based on the favors that are selected, but the napkins will also be pale pink, complementing the sashes.

we were also sure the scout out the ladies bathroom for bud vases, bathroom baskets and other touches.

if you’re looking for an open floor plan that accommodates a medium-to-large guest list and has a lot of charm, be sure to check out springvale. more photos of the end results of my planning with jillian to come in june!
