guest blogger: bride to be tara talks about registering

my first guest blogger: the gorgeous miss tara, who is a fellow northeast ohio knottie and bride-to-be. after i saw one of her posts on the knot, i ask her to talk about registering… a perfect time of the year being the holiday shopping time and all! here’s some insight from a bride-to-be who’s recently been out “beeping” and her “Ultimate Wedding Registry List.”

enjoy and thanks tara!

=================

Who isn’t excited about registering? You basically get to create a wish list of items that will most likely be fulfilled. But for some reason it overwhelmed me. I think the thought of registering for so many things at one time, and all with the hope that you’ll have them for a long time was kind of stressful! What if we picked something that wouldn’t last long? What if we grew tired of what we chose? What if we register for things we would find weren’t really needed and totally forgot things that were?!? Because I’m an organization nut and love things like agendas and lists, I set out to find a “Registry Checklist.” I had seen plenty of them early on in the engagement – everywhere from bridal magazines to wedding shows to the internet. This should be easy, I thought. Click. Print. Off to the store!

But 4 or 5 lists later, I realized NONE of them were complete. One was completely missing baking supplies – cookie sheets, muffin pans, etc. Another didn’t mention anything of a wine opener. How am I supposed to use all these wine glasses if I don’t even have a way to get into that bottle?? Not one list I found suggested I register for an angel food cake pan, and that’s a family tradition!

After coming to the conclusion that the Ultimate (although some to claim to be) Registry List did not exist, I decided to create a list of my own. I pulled ideas from the other lists I found, suggestions from the websites I was already registered at, and items brewed from the churnings of my own imagination. I’m sure I forgot a few things here and there, but that’s why I left the blank lines at the end of each section. So if you have your heart set on that cowhide rug… well, you’ll be able to add it.
