so this is random and personal and not exactly wedding related buuuuuuuut… sort of.
i finally got my fabulous bcbg rehearsal dinner dress dry cleaned last week. i just hadn’t got around to it… devin, my husband, picked it up tonight this evening.

i spent a few weeks searching for the perfect rehearsal dinner dress and kept seeing this one over and over again… several malls and about 40 dresses later… i went back to dillards and finally just splurged.

and i loved it, and it was perfect.

although the two coats and three other dresses i had laundered are just fine… the bcbg dress is entirely ruined. there aren’t burns or tears or frays… it’s just an entirely different color and even texture. it’s dead… yellowed and not shiny anymore. the rushing/seams are stiff and taunt and shouldn’t be that way….
look at the whiter inside lining… .

no flash to give you an idea of what this looks like. it was BRIGHT white silky satin.

we’re taking it back tomorrow and going to be as calm and nice as possible while saying i want every.last.dollar. for this dress. it was dry clean only dress and we took it to a reputable dry cleaner that touts themselves as the “most recognized name in dry cleaning.”
even the bottom hem is entirely out on the bottom. how does this happen??????

their policy states: “in laundering we cannot guarantee against color loss and shrinkage, or against damage to weak and tender fabrics… the company’s liability with respect to lost or damaged article shall not exceed 10 times our charge for processing it.”
well guess what, 10 times the charge to dry clean this dress is about 30% of what i paid for it. i’m going to need about 30 times what i paid to launder it. if i knew this was their policy and this much damage could happen to the dress, i would never have laundered it. SO SAD. i only got to wear this dress ONE time. i mean, this is a NICE dress, how the heck is it this ruined!? *sigh*

ashley - I am very surprised. I have been very happy with my BCBG dresses so far.
Although they are very expensive, I have been able to find a reasonably priced BCBG dress on Twenga.
Hope that can help others!December 8, 2008 – 3:36 am

Sarah - Do you yelp? Write a terrible review about them and take your business somewhere else.
It’s a simple black/white dress… they should know better. I’m soo sorry this happened to your dress.
On our trip home from Italy a bottle of wine broke in my friends bag and ruined 90% of her favorite things. It was really terrible!November 25, 2008 – 8:37 pm
Genevieve - Don’t you hate it when stuff like this happens? I must admit I still haven’t had my wedding dress dry-cleaned and we were married 6 years ago because I dread something might happen to it.November 25, 2008 – 7:25 pm
