the wedding this weekend went splendidly for svetlana and sandor! if you missed it, here is a list of their vendors including the wedding preview, and a peek at the rehearsal
the best man and the groom arrived just as a 2:30 pm wedding was letting out at st. sava serbian orthodox church:

the groom’s sister-in-law-to-be explained some of the nuances of the serbian orthodox ceremony ahead of time. then, once we lined everyone up and got the groom was at the alter, i gave the bride the signal to come on in:

for serbian orthodox weddings, two witnesses must be present – sandor’s friend from hungary, bela, and svetlana’s kym (godfather). in the photo below, you can see the bride and groom had been crowned. “The crowns are signs of the glory and honor with wich God crowns them during the Sacrament.”

the bride and groom are then lead in a “ceremonial walk” by the reverend three times around the alter, representing eternity. “The triple circling is in honor of the Holy Trinity.”

as soon as the ceremony was over (and the groom kissed the bride :)), my husband, devin, and i headed to carrie cerino’s to be sure everything was all set up for the reception, including:
the banquet hall:

escort cards:

the head table and other flower arrangements by creations by lynn:

the white flower cake company cake:

chair covers by l’nique:

and don’t forget about the wonderful table numbers ;)

the groom is a MAJOR hockey fan, so they had elegant ice make them a stanley cup that also served as a vase! sorry, corey ann, you didn’t think i’d blog with out an action shot, did you? (photographers hate getting their own pictures taken???)

once guests arrived and the bridal party was announced by jay r of selective sound.

then the traditional serbian wedding liquor, slivovitz, got passed around… the bride and her family insisted i take a shot… i wasn’t a huge fan but had to participate in the wedding traditions :-D

the rest of the evening went off without a hitch. the bride and groom enjoyed their first dance…

…followed by an anniversary dance. the groom’s aunt and uncle “won” having been married a whopping 43 years! guests enjoyed the music, desserts and MORE slivovitz for the rest of the evening until the reception ended around midnight.
a very special “congratulations” to svetlana and sandor! you two are wonderful together and i wish you decades of love and happiness! i had a great time helping you plan and coordinate your big day! it turned out lovely.

enjoy maui! i can’t wait to see your honeymoon photo shoot with nicole from behind the lens maui!!!
